Plumber in West Salem, OR
Plumbing service for West Salem, the part of Salem across the Willamette River in Polk County.
A Former City Across the River
West Salem sits in the northwest part of Salem, with the Willamette River along its southeast side. It is the only part of Salem in Polk County. The first plat was filed in 1889 and residents approved a city charter in 1913, so West Salem was a separate city until it voted to join Salem in 1949.
The Marion Street and Center Street bridges connect it to the rest of Salem, and Oregon Route 22 and Oregon Route 221, also called Wallace Road, are the two state highways through it. Commercial areas run along Edgewater Street and Wallace Road.
Home Sites Platted Early
Part of West Salem's housing began as early subdivision. In 1908 C. A. Robertson bought Kingwood Park and platted it for home sites, and by 1911 he had arranged a water system and electrical service for eleven homes there. Residential, commercial, and industrial growth then pushed the community's boundaries outward.
That mix of eras means a West Salem property can be anything from a long-established home to a newer build. We do not assume a pattern from the address. We look at the actual plumbing and explain what we find.
